COVID 19 UPDATE

Writer: St Mark's BCSCSt Mark's BCSC

We are now in our third lockdown.

It is important to remember THE BOWEL CANCER SCREENING CENTRE IS OPEN!

Since the 1st lockdown in March last year the screening centre has put in numerous measures to ensure a COVID minimised environment. We have met both local and national infection control procedures to ensure we can continue with this essential service. During the first lockdown it was estimated that over 2,000 cases of bowl cancer went undetected nationally.

Now, more than ever, it is essential you continue to return your FIT kit if you are invited for screening and attend your appointments when required to do so.

As well as all the infection control measures within the department, everybody coming for screening:

· is tested for corona virus before coming for their procedure

· all staff are tested twice a week for the virus

· staff are now being vaccinated

For more information on what to expect if you have to for an endoscopy procedure take a look at the video on our home page.
